The Connecticut Association of Endodontists held its April meeting on April 30, 2026, at Casa Mia at the Hawthorne, featuring a continuing education lecture by Dr. Justin Kolnick titled “Predicting Successful Endodontic Outcomes with Confidence: Finding a Protocol that Checks All the Boxes.” The meeting included updates from CAE leadership, including the Secretary’s report, a Connecticut Mission of Mercy recap from Dr. Bruce Cha, and an American Association of Endodontists update from Dr. Mark Desrosiers. Highlights included continued efforts to expand member communication, support UCONN residents, encourage participation in future events, and recognize the important community impact of CTMOM, which served approximately 900 patients this year and delivered more than $1 million in care.
Dr. Kolnick’s lecture focused on improving confidence in predicting endodontic outcomes, particularly when patients are deciding between endodontic retreatment and extraction with implant replacement. His presentation explored the biological, structural, and procedural factors that influence healing, along with a laser-assisted treatment protocol designed to support deeper disinfection, address complex anatomy, and improve clinical predictability. The meeting also included discussion of new tools such as ATP biomarker testing for evaluating root canal cleanliness, and concluded with collected evaluation forms and suggestions for future lecture topics, including advanced surgical techniques, trauma guidelines, cracks and fractures, AI in endodontics, and interdisciplinary updates.
